The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam said that according to forecasts of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the global aviation market will fully recover by the end of 2024. In Vietnam, after being heavily affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, last year, the domestic aviation market recovered and experienced growth compared to the time before the epidemic. Vietnam's aviation market is forecast to follow the trend of the Asia-Pacific market and will completely recover by the end of 2024.

Accordingly, the total demand for passenger transport by air in 2024 is estimated at 84.2 million passengers, an increase of 15% compared to 2023 and an increase of 6% compared to 2019. Of which, domestic passenger transport reached about 41.5 million guests, an increase of 3.3% compared to 2023 and an increase of 11% compared to 2019; International passenger transport reached about 42.7 million passengers, an increase of 15.8% compared to 2023 and an increase of 6.4% compared to 2019.

Total demand for transporting goods reaches 1.16 million tons, an increase of 8.5% compared to 2023 and equal to 92.2% compared to 2019. Of which, domestic freight transport reaches 210 thousand tons, an increase of 20% compared to 2019. % compared to 2023 and equal to 81.8% compared to 2019. International freight transport reached 950 thousand tons, an increase of 6.1% compared to 2023 and equal to 95% compared to 2019.
